Grand Hyatt Kauai Review: A Luxury Resort on the Island

Grand Hyatt Kauai is one of the most beautiful resorts – it’s definitely a MUST resort when choosing where to stay in Kauai, HI.

This Grand Hyatt Kauai review shares my experience at one of the most beautiful luxury resorts in Hawaii.

I love Hyatt Hotels; I have stayed at their other location in Honolulu last year, so it was no surprise this resort in Kauai was exquisite as well. From beautiful ocean views, resort amenities, and the huge variety of pools and dining; Grand Hyatt Kauai is a top option for all types of travelers.

My Grand Hyatt Kauai Review

My friend Lauren and I arrived late that evening and though it was very dark at that time, just entering the Grand Hyatt Kauai resort, you can tell how beautiful it looked; we were so super excited!

If you plan on renting a car (which is recommended), during your visit to Kauai; you have two options: valet or self-park. Valet parking has a cost per day and self-park is included in your resort fee. The hotel is huge FYI, so parking can be a drag (especially if you have a ton of luggage and prefer not to walk), but if you want to be smart and save some money for your trip, it’s advised you do self-parking.

The walk to the Grand Hyatt Kauai lobby isn’t all that bad especially when there is beautiful scenery! From the parking lot to the lobby, you walk through a path filled with flowers, if you look up, you’ll see a line of palm trees, and once you arrive at the front, you’ll be welcomed with a classic Hawaiian greeting of leis.

The lobby is impeccable, you can’t help to gasp, WOW! The picturesque scenery continues as you enter the lobby, if you proceed forward, you’ll get a glimpse of the breathtaking ocean. I wasn’t kidding when I said this hotel is HUGE! Check-in was easy; the front desk lady gave us a quick overview of the resort and kindly lead us to our room. Lauren and I were super ecstatic to see what was to come!

Room Details:

I will admit navigating to our room was a bit confusing!! Since the resort is enormous, it isn’t hard to get lost. It probably took us a good two days to finally get the hang of where our room was located, lol.

We stayed in their 1 King Bed Ocean View; it was a great size for 2 people. The room featured a king-sized bed, sofa, marble bathrooms, private balcony (with killer views!!), and a mini-fridge.

Like the Hyatt Regency in Honolulu, they offered guests free water bottles that you can easily refill at their various water stations throughout the hotel.

Hotel Dining and Cocktails:

Hyatt Resorts always fulfill your dining needs, offering guests with a variety of options. At the Grand Hyatt Kauai, you can choose from steak, seafood, sushi, and many more.

Stevenson’s Sushi and Spirits

Stevenson’s is a nice late-night spot and is one of the few places that close pretty late (“Kauai” late). We came here for drinks our first night and we really liked the ambiance. We also had dinner there on our last night and really enjoyed their sake and sushi – super fresh and worth the money!

Hours
Lounge: 5:30 PM – Midnight
Sushi: 5:30 PM – 9:30 PM

Tidepools

If you are looking for dinner, a romantic one I must add, Tidepools is a great choice! Tidepools is a contemporary Hawaiian cuisine inspired by local ingredients, prepared with the freshest of fish and steak.

Hours

Lounge: 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Dinner: 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Dondero’s

Dondero’s is another great place to dine; they serve Italian cuisine using only the freshest of ingredients.

Hours
Tuesday through Saturday: 5:30 PM – 9:30 PM

The resort also offers guests with 24-hour room service. For more information on other dining options, please check it out here.

Hotel Amenities:

Anara Spa
Spend a full day of traditionally-inspired Hawaiian pampering at Anara Spa. At Anara Spa, you can choose from various treatment packages: facials, scrubs, massages, and so much more!

Lauren and I had the pleasure of experiencing a relaxing spa day here, and it was AMAZING! I got their traditional massage called “Hawaiian Lomilomi,” and I left feeling absolutely relaxed. Lauren tried their “Kope ‘Coffee’ Body Polish,” which she loved as well.

Within the spa, guests have access to their pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, locker rooms, showers, and relaxing room; you can easily spend your whole day there!

Pools and Lagoon
The Grand Hyatt offers guests with three large pools, including a lazy river with a waterslide, a large activities pool with basketball and volleyball nets, and another section for adults-only pool.

You can also find a few jacuzzis as well.

There is also a saltwater lagoon area. This was one of my favorite areas!

Ocean
You have easy access to the ocean as well! It’s not a bad view either! 🙂

Fitness Center
You can get your workout in while visiting Grand Hyatt Kauai. The fitness center is opened to guests 24-hours daily.

Also – they offer weekly classes, so make sure you ask the front desk!

Nearby Spots:

Poipu Beach is the closest spot you can walk to. It is recommended you rent a car while visiting Kauai. Kauai isn’t like Waikiki, where you can easily get to point a to point b on foot. My favorite right now is using Discover Cars to rent affordably.

Food
Though, I have a few food spots I can definitely recommend that are nearby!

Merriman’s Fish House
This restaurant is located just under 10 minutes away from The Grand Hyatt Kauai. During my visit, I had the pleasure of trying out a variety of their menu items such as:

Tako A La Escargot, Chilled Oysters, Caesar Salad, Hawaiian Fish Ceviche

Fresh Fish of the Day, Jumbo Fresh Lobster

Chocolate Dessert

From the food to the service, everything was phenomenal. Lauren and I both agreed our most favorite dish was their Tako a La Escargot.

If you’re not visiting Kauai, they have locations on the other Hawaii islands as well.

Big Save
Big Save is one of Kauai’s largest and oldest retailers. It’s essentially a grocery store market, and there is one super close to Grand Hyatt and other locations scattered around the island (check Google or Yelp). We came here for some grub, and we ended up getting their fresh poke. It was amazing!
