How to Become a Poshmark Queen + Learn the Secrets to Selling Your Items Daily

Fancy Nanc-ista

CONFESSION: Poshmark has been my latest addiction. It has been my daily distraction ever since Instagram has hit a wall. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll still go on Instagram, but Poshmark seems to be way more fun and profitable!

Those of you who aren’t familiar with Poshmark, it’s a popular social commerce marketplace where people in the US can buy and sell used clothing and/or products. It’s basically like thrift shopping but on an app! Founded in 2011 — it’s been around for a quite a bit — and has grown in popularity since!

I’ve been using this app since 2013 I believe, and never have I ever thought I’d master the ways on how to make consistent sales DAILY on Poshmark. It’s pretty crazy to think yet amazing! Don’t get me wrong, before starting, I used to always feel frustrated and want to just quit after seeing no results — but after some serious research on both blogs and YouTube, I have finally mastered some tricks on how to SELL on Poshmark.

That is why today I want to share with you guys some of my Poshmark Secrets to Success that I’ve learned and has really helped me sell my closet items. So if you’re interested, keep reading!

Disclosure: Poshmark is a great way to sell your lightly used or new items, yet it is still really time-consuming and tedious (very much like growing your Instagram). Though, after you get the hang of it, it becomes second nature and is very rewarding when you start to see sales come in.

It’s incredible to see how FAST you can sell and earn in a very short period of time. In my experience thus far, I’ve made up to $500 in just one weekend! Miracles do happen.

Now that you know… Are you ready to find out how you can start making BIG bucks? Here are my top 13 Poshmark secrets to selling your items daily:

1) Join Poshmark Groups
This is something I learned recently. Never did I thought to join any! But I feel like this REALLY made a difference as it has the potential to bring in new customers to my closet.

You can find Poshmark groups on the app (which I have yet to check out), or you can join them on Facebook. I currently am in a few, which I can link below, and they are amazing.

*Please note when you search for Facebook Poshmark Groups, they do not always allow you to advertise your closet, so make sure you read the fine lines prior to joining.

These groups not only provide an outlet to share your closets but they are a great way to learn more about the app and grab advice from a variety of Poshers themselves while connecting with the community!

2) Reshare Other Posher’s Closet Items Daily
You know that saying — “I’ll scratch your back if you scratch mine”? Well if you want people to share your closet, you need to be sharing theirs too! I try to do this 2-3 times a day. So for instance, when I wake up in the morning, I will share around 5-10 items from 10-15 closets and at night time, I’ll do the same or more. The more you do this, the more shares you may get back.

To ensure you will get reshared back is to join a Poshmark group (as stated above) and either join in on someone else’s share thread or create your own.

So an example post you could create in the group would be, “Hey guys! I just added new items to my closet, I would love to make some sales today! Looking to share some X/X amount today! Drop your link below and I will LIKE it when finished.” See below for more details.

Sharing each other’s closets will bring more exposure to your closet which can lead to a sale, as well as new followers.

3) Reshare Your Closet Items Daily
In addition to sharing other’s closets, share your closet too! The more you do it, the more you will be seen on the Poshmark app. So again, do it 2-3 times daily. I like to do it first thing in the morning, during lunchtime, and after work hours/late evenings.

If there are items you want in your closet to be seen and sold immediately, make sure you share those last so they end up being at the top of your closet. The items at the top will be seen first and shared the most by other Poshers.

4) Offer a Discounted Price to Likers
One great tip for a chance to sell an item immediately is to offer a discounted price as soon as you see someone new ‘like’ your closet item. The app requires you to discount the item at least 10% less and provide one shipping option to the customer(s).

Note — if you offer additional discounts on the item after the initial, to successfully send a discount to likers, your discount must be at least 10% below your lowest offer in the last 90 days.

Another way to get more sales in one transaction is to offer a bundle price. You can find Bundle options when you go under ‘Your Account,’ and then select, ‘My Seller Tools.’

When you are there, click, ‘My Seller Discount.’ There you can find a variety of different percentages and minimum items you’d like to offer.

I like to play around with what works best for me. So my two that work for me personally are 15% off a minimum of 3 items and 10% off a minimum of 2 items. But feel free to find which option works best for you!

When someone adds to their bundle, you can also have a private conversation with that person and can negotiate and offer an ADDITIONAL discount on top of the bundle discount!

5) Join Poshmark Parties
There are a total of 4 Parties hosted daily: 9 AM, 12 PM, 4 PM, and 7 PM PST. The first 3 parties available are mostly specific targeted parties. For instance, a 9 AM party could be called, ‘Best in Tops Party.’ At this party, you have the chance to share all your tops listings. The last posh party of the day is the everything-type party, which is the most popular party of the day as you are allowed to share everything in your closet.

It is recommended that any chance you get (set an ALARM if you have to) you should JOIN a party or two daily. This is another way to get your closet and items out there and potentially get your item chosen as a ‘Host Pick.’ A Host Pick is when a Host shares your item to the party, which highers your chance of being seen by others who also joined the party and will potentially help you sell the item quicker.

However, with hundreds of users joining these parties, it may be challenging to get your item chosen. A few ways I found helpful is to join the party and reshare at least 5-10 items of each of the host’s closets to get noticed or in the Poshmark Facebook Groups, pay attention and check daily for posts regarding parties because some of the members in the group can be Hosts for parties that same day and will offer the chance for others to have their item selected.

In addition to sharing the party host’s closet items, you want to try and aim for resharing at least 50-100 items or more of anybody’s items in the party of any category — in order to get more reshares. *Share more of other people’s items in parties than yours.*

Side note: In my experience, getting your item selected as a Host Pick doesn’t guarantee your item will sell. So far, I’ve had a few of my item(s) as a ‘Host Pick’ and though it’s given me more exposure, I have never sold any of them. It is definitely a hit or miss, but worth trying.

6) Post New Items Daily
This can be tricky especially if you don’t have many items to sell. But the more you have, the more your closet will stick out. The recommended number to always have in your closet is 75 available listings. To help you out, try asking your friends or family if they have any items they want to get rid of and give you to sell on your Poshmark closet.

On the other hand, if you have many items to sell (like me) do not post it all in one day. Split it up in piles and plan to post a minimum of 5 daily. This not only helps your closet to be seen but you will gain more followers on top of it.

7) Be As Detailed As Possible With Your Titles and Descriptions
This is VERY important – as it is an opportunity to utilize the power of SEO!

TITLES should always be in long-tail keyword format –

Always include:
-Name of Brand (if possible)
-Type of Product (ie: Denim Dress)
-New (NWT) or New Without Tags (NWOT)
-Emojis (I like to use the ‘NEW’ emoji icon to make it stand out)

DESCRIPTIONS should be as detailed as possible –

Always include:
-Emojis (start by using them)
-Name of Brand / Type of Product (rewrite these items again as they are the main keywords)
-Product Details: type of material, sizing (how it fits) or measurements (if it’s a handbag).
-Any Other Necessary Details

*The more detailed you are, the fewer questions you will receive from customers down the road. And the faster they can decide if they want to buy it!*

8) Interact With Your Potential Customers Within 12-24 Hours
Always, ALWAYS try your best to respond to customer questions or concerns ASAP. A general rule I say is if it’s within 12-24 hours if you can’t do it right away.

Also, just a simple, thank you, when someone adds an item(s) to their bundle or when they purchase something is always a nice gesture that goes a long way.

9) Post Very Clear With Great Lighting Photos
This is always necessary if not obvious. I have seen plenty of closets with HORRIBLE pictures where you can barely see what the product really is! If it’s a lighter colored item, find a dark background and vice versa. Lightly edit the photos if you have to! But posting clear and focused photos will get people wanting to shop your items more – plus it looks more presentable and credible for those browsing.

Also the more angles and shots you have of your product, the better!

10) Ship Your Packages Promptly
The faster you ship, the better! I like to try and ship it in at least 1-2 days if not the same day. This allows your customers to get the product faster (not to mention get your funds faster), and give them more of a reason to give you a 5-star rating.

When you go to a Posher’s closet; you can see the Posher’s ‘Average Ship Time,’ which can encourage shoppers to want to choose you over someone else.

11) Compare Pricing With Other Competitors
Before posting an item from a certain brand, I like to check out the other seller’s price points. For instance, if you are selling a popular item from Pixi, there’s a high chance someone else is selling the exact same thing as you.

You can easily search the brand and/or item by entering it in the search bar on the front page. Look through the other listings and see what you’re up against. If someone is charging less than what you are offering, most likely yours won’t sell. This is important! Make sure you do your research before listing a price.

12) List Name Brand Items
While this isn’t always necessary, well-known, trendy brands sell, period. Some popular brands that sell fast for me are:
-Zara
-Hammitt
-Fabletics
Pixi
-Diff Eyewear
-Moschino or any designer brand
Skincare and beauty products

13) Become a Posh Ambassador
Last but not least, BECOME A POSH AMBASSADOR! How? There are certain specifics you need to conquer before reaching this status. See Below:

Update: I’ve been a Posh Ambassador for more than a month and I will say it has not made a difference in my sales; however I have been growing followers daily because of it. So though it may not give you more sales it still gives you status!

You can find your ‘Posh Stats’ under your account, and on that page, click ‘My Posh Stats’. There you will see ‘Posh Ambassador Status,’ and when you click it, it will lead you to your own.
