Hotel Review: Great Scotland Yard London
After staying at Hard Rock Hotel for the first few nights, I headed over to the Great Scotland Yard Hotel for the remainder of my stay. It was nice switching it up as I had the opportunity to experience different neighborhoods of London.
MY EXPERIENCE
Great Scotland Yard Hotel is steps away from Covent Garden, which is conveniently near many shops and restaurants. The hotel itself is quite unique, as it’s one of London’s most historic buildings that holds many hidden stories than any other kind of London.
The building is on site of the former Metropolitan Police in London; throughout the hotel you will find references to its rich history, including a gallery of prison inmates in the lobby.
From the moment I stepped in, I was immediately greeted by the bellhop, who then helped me with my bags (which is always a nice gesture), and led the way for check-in. During check-in, the front desk lady offered me some tea and then took me on a quick hotel tour. This is when you learn more of the hotel’s history – which was very insightful. Just by the attentive staff from the get-go, I knew this hotel’s customer service would not disappoint.
The hotel is absolutely stunning – every single room is decorated beautifully – it’s definitely a picturesque dream. Unlike the Hard Rock, the Great Scotland Yard is a boutique hotel which gave it a more personable and homier vibe.
Room:
The rooms were very cozy and intimate. I stayed in their 1 King Bed Premium – featuring general amenities, a rooftop, marble bathroom and minibar.
Hotel Dining and Cocktails:
The hotel offers a wide selection of food and beverage options, including in-room dining.
The Yard by Robin and Grill
GSY’s signature restaurant – come here for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I had the pleasure of dining here for breakfast. The staff are incredibly attentive and welcoming – plus the food won’t disappoint! During breakfast, you can dine buffet style or a la carte.
Visit their website for more information.
The Parlour
Get your afternoon tea fix at The Parlour! While I did not have a chance to check this out during my stay, I must say the room is both relaxing and peaceful!
Reserve here.
Sibin
Head on over to the Sibin for some evening drinks. This unique space offers guests with a fresh and inclusive approach to the world of whiskey – the menu also features a mix of classic and antagonistic style whiskey cocktails. View the menu here.
The 40 Elephants
From barista-served coffee to specialty signature cocktails, local craft beers and ciders, this is the hub of the hotel and is open all day long. View more of their menu here.
Hotel Amenities:
Fitness Center
While I did not get my fitness on during my stay, they do offer guests with gym access (ask the front desk about it).
Meeting Room
Want to hold a meeting? GSY offers guests access to a spacious conference room – inquiry at front desk.
Nearby Spots:
GSY is situated in a very central area; great for first-timers and regulars! Easily accessible to tubes and buses; check out my full Travel Guide to London here.
OVERALL RATING
Overall, I absolutely loved this hotel! Not only is it stunning, but throughout my stay, everyone was very welcoming, attentive and really made you feel special. Though the room was a bit more snug, it felt very comfortable for one person. I’d totally recommend staying here – it’s definitely worth every penny!

This hotel actually looks so stunning! I was supposed to be going to England for four weeks in June and we would’ve stayed in London and I so would’ve checked this hotel out – but since flights are all cancelled, I’ll have to plan to go there when we can finally go on our trip!
