Budapest, Prague, and Paris Travel Guide 2022

Budapest Prague and Paris Cover

Hello, guys! Happy February! So I have been living abroad for almost 2 months now, and I am loving every minute of it! The first few weeks of my travels were spent in a few European countries with a friend. Then she had to return home, so I stayed in Barcelona, Spain, where I have lived for a month now. I just extended my stay by another month.

Unfortunately, my 90-day stay here is almost up, and although I’d like to stay longer, it seems too complicated for me to get a visa as a US citizen. My only option is to stay outside of the Schengen area for 90 days before I can return.

Anyway, since I’ve been staying in one place for a while, I’ve finally had some time to write up a travel guide of things you must do, where to eat, and more for each of the countries I’ve been to so far — Budapest, Prague, Paris, and Barcelona.

Today I will be sharing Budapest, Prague, and Paris recommendations below. Hope you enjoy it!

BUDAPEST

What To Do:

Visit the Széchenyi Thermal Bath

A must thing to do while visiting Budapest is to visit a thermal bath. During our visit, we had a chance to check out Széchenyi Thermal Bath, which is the largest thermal bath in Europe with 15 indoor baths and 3 outdoor pools.

Book 1-Hour Sightseeing Tour

The best way to see the city is by boat, and what better time than at night? We had a great time on this 1-hour Sightseeing Tour with GetYourGuide. There was a welcome drink of champagne with the option to purchase additional drinks at the bar.

Visit the Christmas Markets:

Visit the Christmas markets if you are planning a trip to Europe during the holiday season. We had a lot of fun walking through the markets in Budapest. Also, make sure to order a cup of hot chocolate or mulled wine while you’re there!

Visit the Karavan Street Food

This is a great place to start if you want to sample all the traditional food Budapest has to offer. You can choose from a variety of street food trucks. Here we tried Goulash (which is a Hungarian stew), and Lángos (a deep-fried flatbread with sheep cheese and sour cream on top). Everything was delicious – it’s a great hangout spot for friends and family!

Other cool things to check out:

Budapest Dinner Cruise Operetta and Folk Show

Daytime Sightseeing Cruise

Budapest Hop-On and Hop-Off Bus Tour

Food You Must Eat:

One of my favorite things about traveling is trying all the different cuisines each country offers! I had never tried Hungarian food before, so I was eager to try it. My friend and I wanted to try all of their traditional food at least once, so if you’re a foodie like us, check out our list of things to try!

Hungarian Goulash

hungarian chicken goulosh

Hungarian Goulash is a soup or stew with meat and vegetables. It can be eaten in a bread bowl or with bread on the side. It is especially delicious when it is cold outside. Our stew was rich and flavorful. I recommend visiting Gundel (which is located next to the Szechenyi Thermal Baths); they serve the best chicken stew!

Lángos

Budapest’s Lángos is another must-eat dish. It is a deep-fried flatbread served with toppings such as sour cream and sheep cheese. It’s probably not the healthiest, but it’s delicious!

Chimney Cakes

Chimney cakes are a traditional Hungarian pastry – basically a cone-shaped pastry – with a selection of coatings (cinnamon, vanilla, cacao, walnut), and a choice of filling (Nutella or ice cream). You can find these chimney cake stands all over Budapest if you’re craving something sweet!

PRAGUE

What To Do:

Treat Yourself to a Spa Day at Original Beer Spa

Prague’s beer spas are a cool and unique experience! Coming from the US, it’s not common. We booked ours through Original Beer Spa, and we had a 1-hour original beer treatment. The treatment came with a private room with a relaxing oak whirlpool tub. There was also homemade beer bread and unlimited beer. It was a really relaxing and cool experience! The beer in Prague is known to be excellent, so don’t miss out if you’re visiting!

Watch a Black Light Show

Experiencing a black light show is another cool thing to do. Jiri Srnec’s Black Theater was fascinating to us, and we enjoyed the show. Founded in 1961, this theater is the first black light theater in the world.

Book a Sightseeing Dinner Cruise

Take in the historical beauty of Prague at night on this amazing Sightseeing Dinner Cruise. Enjoy a 3-hour buffet cruise aboard a modern glass-topped open-top boat.

Eat Dinner Medieval Style

Enjoy a 3-course or 5-course medieval dinner with unlimited drinks in the heart of Prague. You’ll enjoy a medieval performance featuring swordsmen, jugglers, and belly dancers accompanied by music. Book your tickets here.

Visit the Prague Castle

Prague Castle is a must-see while you’re there. Alternatively, if you would like a more informative experience, you can book a private guided tour.

PARIS

What To Do:

Book a Food Tour

Take a food tour to discover local food in a town you’re visiting! We booked our Paris food tour through Secret Food Tours. You can actually take tours throughout the world with them, so don’t hesitate to check them out. We had a great time on the tour we took in Paris. We ate all the local French food and learned a lot about the culture and history of the area. I highly recommend it!

Book a Show at the Moulin Rouge

The Moulin Rouge is a must-see if you’re in Paris! Sip sparkling champagne or dine on a traditional French menu while watching this spectacular show.

Visit the Palace of Versailles

Palace of Versailles is known for its exquisite rooms and galleries. Skip-the-line on this guided tour you can book here.

Visit the Eiffel Tower

The obvious one! In addition to admiring the beauty of the Eiffel Tower, you can also book a guided tour with a certified guide to learn about its fascinating history and access to its second and summit levels. Book your tickets here.

Visit the Louvre Museum

The Louvre Museum is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the world. As the world’s largest museum, the Louvre displays 35,000 works in an exhibition space of 73,000 square meters spread across three wings. If you want to enjoy the music + a river sightseeing cruise tour, book here.

Eat at La Bonne Franquette

One of my favorite memories in Paris was eating at this restaurant! Everything from the food, the ambiance, and the staff (especially our waiter), was marvelous! Highly recommend eating here if you want traditional French cuisine! View more information here.

That’s all I have for now. In the event that I revisit any of these cities, I’ll make sure to update this list! If you would like more information on some places, make sure to follow me on my other social networks (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok)! And stay tuned for my Barcelona Travel Guide!
