My Switzerland Travel Guide: Where I Stayed, What I Did, and What I’d Recommend 🇨🇭

A Personal Travel Guide to Switzerland: What to Do, Where to Stay & Eat in Geneva, Zurich, and Beyond

Hi friends!

I’ve been meaning to create more travel guides from all the places I’ve visited — so you can find everything in one place (and easily book through the links!). Since my older Switzerland TikTok videos have been getting some love lately, I figured… what better time to write this guide?

I’ve been to Switzerland three times now — two longer stays (in Geneva and Zurich), and one quick day trip to dreamy St. Moritz from Milan. Every time I go, I leave with the same feeling: it’s expensive, but it’s worth it. The views, the chocolate, the calm vibes… ugh, I love it.

In this post, I’m sharing where I stayed, things to do, places to eat, and tours I absolutely loved — plus links to my TikToks if you want visuals!

🇨🇭 GENEVA

Where I Stayed

🏨 Meininger Hotel Genève Centre

This is a hybrid hotel/hostel that’s perfect if you’re not trying to break the bank in one of Europe’s most expensive countries. I’ve stayed at a few Meininger Hotels across Europe, and they’re always a solid choice.

I booked a private room (you can do shared dorms too), and the hotel had great amenities: a guest kitchen, lounge/bar area, laundry, and breakfast (for an extra fee). It’s about 20 minutes by tram to the main city center. Tip: ask for a free transport pass when you check in — they offer one to guests!

Fun Tours to Book

🧀 Fondue TukTuk Tour with Welo
A super fun (and unique) way to see Geneva! You cruise around the city in a TukTuk, sipping wine and eating fondue. It’s cozy, quirky, and delicious. My guide was amazing too!

Other Things To Do

  • St. Pierre Cathedral – Free to enter, but go up to the top for panoramic views (about $7 USD and totally worth it!)
  • Jet d’Eau – Geneva’s famous water fountain shooting 140 meters into the air, right on the lake.
  • Flower Clock – A beautiful photo stop in the English Garden.
  • Patek Philippe Museum – For the watch lovers!
  • Parc des Bastions – A peaceful spot with chess boards and the Reformation Wall.
  • Wander Old Town – Cobblestone streets, cafes, and charm.

I spent 3 nights in Geneva, which felt just right — it’s a small city, and I felt like I saw a lot.

🇨🇭 ZURICH

Where I Stayed

🏨 B2 Hotel
This boutique hotel used to be a brewery and now has one of the prettiest rooftop spas in Zurich! It’s near the Google offices and only a short tram ride into town. I loved the cozy-yet-luxe vibes here.

💸 Budget Alternative: Meininger Hotel Zurich
We also stayed at Meininger Zurich for a few nights — it’s a little farther out but totally doable. We booked a private room again, and it had similar amenities to Geneva (kitchen, lounge, etc.). Great for budget travelers.

🍫 Lindt Home of Chocolate
A must-do if you’re a chocolate lover! Entry is around $20, and you get unlimited tastings. Yes, unlimited. (You’ll walk out in a chocolate daze — in the best way.)

🧖🏻‍♀️ Hürlimannbad & Spa
This spa is located on the rooftop of B2 Hotel and has thermal baths and beautiful views of the city. Perfect to wind down!

Where to Eat

🫕 Swiss Chuchi Restaurant – A cozy spot in Zurich’s Old Town for traditional fondue.

🫕 Fondue Alternative:
Le Dézaley – An authentic Swiss restaurant tucked in the heart of Old Town, famous for fondue and raclette.

🧀 Where to Try Raclette:

  • Walliser Keller – A rustic spot that’s perfect for cheesy goodness.
  • Raclette Factory Zurich – Casual, cozy, and all about raclette!

Zurich in winter was freezing, and we didn’t do as much because of the weather — we stayed for 5 nights total. Next time, I’d love to come back in the summer!

❄️ St. Moritz (Day Trip from Milan)

This was a super quick visit, but absolutely stunning. I joined a guided day tour from Milan, and we visited St. Moritz before hopping on the Bernina Red Train across Switzerland. It was one of the most scenic rides I’ve ever done. Highly recommend!

Overview

Switzerland is one of my favorite places I’ve traveled to — yes, it’s pricey, but it’s also peaceful, clean, and just magical. I’ve mostly done the major cities so far, but my next trip is 100% going to be nature-focused. Grindelwald or Interlaken, I’m looking at you. 🏔️

I hope this Switzerland travel guide helps you plan your own adventure. Whether you’re going for the chocolate, cheese, or the chill vibes, there’s something here for everyone.
