A Memorable Italian Getaway: Rome, Florence, and Venice Itinerary

If you’re planning an unforgettable trip to Italy, here’s a glimpse into a recent group adventure that took us through Rome, Florence, and Venice. This itinerary is packed with iconic experiences and local delights, perfect for anyone looking to explore these historic cities.

Day 1: Arrival and Welcome

Our journey began with a relaxed arrival day in Rome. After checking into our accommodation and settling in, we enjoyed a free day to explore the city at our own pace. The highlight of the day was a delightful welcome dinner, where we gathered to discuss our exciting plans and savor traditional Italian cuisine.

Accommodation Recommendation:

We stayed in a lovely accommodation located in the Vatican area. It was the perfect base for exploring Rome!  Book your stay here!

I also stayed at the Cassiodoro19 and really enjoyed it! Very nice owners and it felt homey, in a great, safe location.

Where to Eat Nearby:

📌 Ristorante Pizzeria Buona Forchetta: Exceptional hospitality and truly authentic Italian cuisine! A must-visit for a local dining experience.
📌 Gregoria Venite in Pace: Another fantastic option offering delicious traditional Italian dishes.

What We Did On Our First Day:

📍 Pantheon Visit: An iconic stop! We highly recommend booking a tour with an audio guide to fully appreciate the history.

📍 Buccianti Gelateria: Don’t miss grabbing some delicious gelato here after sightseeing!

📍 Trevi Fountain: We spent some time marveling at this breathtaking landmark and, of course, tossed a coin for good luck.

📍 Evening at The Sanctuary: This stylish spot was perfect for winding down with cocktails and snacks after a day of exploring.

Day 2: Immersive Rome Experience

We kicked off our exploration with a Roman, Colosseum, and Forum Tour, booked through Get Your Guide.

This tour provided an in-depth look at Rome’s ancient history and iconic landmarks, offering a fascinating journey through the Colosseum and the Roman Forum.

In the evening, we joined a cooking class, which we booked through Viator. This hands-on experience allowed us to learn the art of Italian cooking and enjoy a delicious homemade meal. If you’re looking for alternatives, you might consider this option or this one.

Other Restaurants We Visited that I recommend:

📌 Flor Gelato – another delicious gelato place!
📌 Fuorinorma Deli – the sandwiches are fresh and delicious here!

Day 3: Free Exploration in Rome

The third day was dedicated to free time, allowing us to explore Rome’s vibrant neighborhoods. On our last day, we explored the trendy neighborhood Trastevere – where we shopped at the Flea Market and tried Tiramisu at Tiramisu Merisu.

Other Places to Check Out:

📍 Explore the Vatican Area:

📌 The National Museum of Castel Sant’Angelo

📌 St. Peter’s Basilica Square Guided Tour (includes dome climb)

📌 Klook Rome Pass (which allows you to book multiple attractions in one pass for a discounted price)

Use code: FANCYNANCISTAKLOOK for a discount for the above!

📌 Vatican Museums are a must! You can choose to just get a single entry ticket here or visit the museums with a guided tour here.

Day 4: Transit to Florence

On Day 4, we traveled from Rome to Florence via train, using Trenitalia. The scenic train ride offered a relaxing transition to our next destination.

I definitely recommend grabbing a wine in the window at Osteria Belle Donne!

Day 5: Pisa and Wine Tasting

Our Florence adventure began with a day trip to Pisa and a wine tasting experience. We explored the Leaning Tower of Pisa and indulged in a delightful wine-tasting session. This day provided an excellent mix of historical sights and culinary delights.

For a unique Florence experience, we used GetYourGuide for a guided tour. This tour offered a deep dive into Florence’s rich art and culture, enhancing our understanding of the city’s Renaissance heritage. Book the tour here.

Day 6: Transit to Venice and Gondola Ride

On Day 6, we journeyed from Florence to Venice. Finally got to try 📍All’Antico Vinaio for the fresh sandwiches – tip to avoid the lines, buy it at the train station!

After arriving in this enchanting city, we took a gondola ride at 5:30 PM, booked through GetYourGuide, which you can book here. This classic Venetian experience offered a picturesque view of the city’s canals and landmarks.

Day 7: Free Day and Farewell

Our final day in Venice was free for personal exploration. We used this time to visit local shops, enjoy a leisurely meal, and soak in the city’s unique ambiance. We wrapped up our trip with a memorable farewell night, celebrating the end of a fantastic Italian adventure.

Where We Stayed: Airbnb near Rialto’s Bridge

Hotels I Recommend: Venetian Experience, Foscari Palace, Ca’ San Giorgio B&B
