Hotel Review: Hotel Spero San Francisco

Just two blocks away from Union Square, and situated near various restaurants and attractions is a cute little boutique hotel called Hotel Spero.

This year for the holidays I decided to stay local – some of my good friends and I decided to take a last minute getaway to the wonderful city of San Francisco for Christmas. It was one of my very first times there (the last time didn’t really count) – I was excited to see what this city had to offer and to stay in a very central area.

My friend and I drove up there from LA around 2 PM and did not get to SF until late at night. The hotel offers parking next door for about $59 per night (yikes!). One of the things I noticed about any kind of big city is parking is VERY EXPENSIVE – so if you plan on driving, I recommend you download the app Spot Hero (that should help you track down a more affordable price that’s available). My friend ended up finding a less expensive garage down the street for about $34 for 24 hours, which is better.

My friend had dropped me off to check in and as I walked into the hotel I instantly felt like I was at home for Christmas – the hotel lobby was decked in holiday themed decor and right as you enter you see this gorgeous Christmas tree. In LA – it never really feels like Christmas or any other holiday slash season for that matter; so it was nice to stay somewhere with Christmas decor.

Since I arrived late, the check-in process was a breeze. The front gave me a welcoming bag (which had a S’well water bottle in it – like the Hyatt in Hawaii this hotel also offered filtered water stations on the first and 2nd floors) and directed me to my room.

Hotel Spero offers guests standard size rooms as well as guestroom suites for bigger parties – I had the pleasure of staying in their Serenity Suite – which featured a separate bedroom and living room area, super spacious and felt very homey! 

The hotel staff welcomed me with some fruit and delicious cookies, as well as a personalized note with a $50 food and beverage credit for the restaurant next door called Jasper’s.

Located just steps away from the hotel lobby elevators is an innovative American cuisine restaurant called Jasper’s. It’s open for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner – we had a chance to try it out for dinner and it definitely lived up to its top reviews! 

Had to try their mimosa flights – flavors included orange, kiwi, strawberry and mango.

We ordered their grilled chicken sandwich, shrimp chopped salad, with sides such as their hazelnut bacon brussel sprouts (totally recommended!!) and roasted beets and candied walnut. View the full dinner menu here.

Everything was phenomenal – all dishes were flavorful and delicious! Jasper’s is a great gastropub to go watch your favorite teams play on their 12 flat screen TVs – you can also enjoy happy hour which is served daily from 3-6 PM and 10PM-close.

The hotel offers guests with complimentary coffee and tea every morning from 5:30 AM – 10 AM in their lobby.

If you want to fit in a workout during your stay, you have 24 hour access to their gym downstairs. It’s equipped with standard gym essentials such as treadmills, weights and mats.

Hotel Spero offers guests with an area to work, with computers available for use.

From the cozy and welcoming atmosphere to the holiday themed decor; I’d recommend Hotel Spero to anyone visiting  and wants to be located in a very central area.

Though the trip was short, I am glad I decided to make a trip up here as it was a blast!
