Anna Fong

Fancy Nanc-ista

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to meet with a Chicago based designer named Anna Fong, this was my very first time doing something related to the fashion industry, and it was very exciting. She invited me to take a look at her 2014 Spring-Summer Collection, where I was able to put together and style different looks for me to wear in a photo shoot taken place at her studio. After the photo shoot, it was then followed by a short Q&A about myself as a Fashion Blogger.

Anna studied Fashion Design at Columbia College of Chicago, and in 2008 decided to launch her own business right here in Chicago.
Anna’s Collection consists of very sophisticated, yet flirty styles, which fits perfectly in my style taste. I adored everything in her collection from her dresses to her fabulous tops and skirts. Before arriving, I did a bit of research on her collection online and there were a few items in her collection that stood out to me the most.
First was the ‘Nellie,’ which is a high neck collared, quarter sleeve length white jacket that is fitted. I love this look; it’s sophisticated yet so chic. This jacket can go well with a fitted dress, skirt or even high waisted shorts. And you know me, I would definitely add some color when wearing this jacket. Then there’s the beautiful and elegant gown also known as the ‘Rose.’ It’s revealing but in a classy way, as lace cuts through the back, shoulders and has a slight slit up in the front.
Upon arrival, one of Anna’s interns instructed me to bring in a few pieces of my own clothing, accessories and shoes so that I can present a few ways of how I, as a Fashion Blogger would put together pieces from my own closet with pieces from her collection.
So want to see what I came up with? Check out my photo shoot here:
I am wearing all Anna Fong here but the heels are mine. Since the clothing that I was wearing were all samples and are meant for models, not every thing fit me right, unfortunately. But her collection was as pretty as it was online! There were a lot of pieces from her old collection as well, that were definitely my style!
I am also wearing the ‘Nellie,’ jacket here, if you didn’t notice. I loved this jacket! And would look fabulous on a black fitted dress just like this one from her collection. The ‘Etta,’ which is a black knitted sleeveless dress with back and side cut outs. I love this look because this dress can be worn in any kind of event, from dressing up for work (with the jacket of course) to a night out, this dress is perfect. I actually saw this dress on the racks, and tried it on, but unfortunately it didn’t fit correctly because of the size, but I’m sure if I had the correct size, it would!

I am wearing the ‘Alicia,’ top, which is a fun summery sleeveless white top. You can’t see it but it has a fun assymetrical bottom trim! I was actually surprised with this top, because I wasn’t sure it was something I would wear, but I paired this perfectly with my Akira lace black high waisted shorts. I am wearing my own ankle strapped heels, but wearing Anna Fong’s gorgeous ribbon necklace called the ‘Ketty‘. I saw this online initially, and just adore it!
Everything I am wearing here, but the skirt and shoes are from the Anna Fong’s collection. Initially, this vest was paired with a long black gorgeous gown that I loved, but again, it didn’t fit. =( So this is what we put together. You can’t find this vest on the site just yet, but I am sure that it will be up soon.

And last but not least, this was by far my favorite outfit of the day. Surprisingly and honestly I was not a fan of this skirt at all, but obviously everything online always looks different than it does in person. So shockingly, when I wore this skirt with my ZARA floral top and strapped black heels, it was a perfect match! I also think that this skirt would look great with the designer, Schutz black lace up pumps, which I WANT really bad! Here are a similar pair but $100 less pump. =) Here is where you can find the skirt
Anyway, this was the exciting news I wanted to share with you for weeks. I am actually doing another project with another Chicago based designer this week =) Super excited! And can’t wait to share with you all!! There will be videos up soon.
XOXO,
Fancy Nancista
