Meet Greg of Gold Creatures

Greg is a full-time musician and photographer. He is the singer and songwriter for an alternative rock band called Zebra & Giraffe, and photographs for the blogs Photos by Hoodlum and Gold Creatures.
1) What made you want to start your blog and how would you describe your style in 3 words?
Gold Creatures was started by my fiance and I just over a year ago. We both had a love for fashion and photography and thought a blog would be a great outlet for that.
I would describe my style as a mixture of grungy, street & rock n’ roll.
2) Who is your fashion inspiration?
I don’t have one in particular but I do love these guys: Ivan Chang, Art Comes First, Nick Wooster, NXJ Collective & Kanye West.
3) What’s the one wardrobe essential you can’t live without?
I guess that’d be my skinny jeans. I have amassed a large number of skinnys (mainly black) over the years and I just can’t seem to stop! I also love my All Saints leather jacket that I’ve had for 5 years now.
4) What is your most favorite thing about blogging?
I can’t say I’m the biggest fan of being in front of the camera, it took me along time to get used to. But being in a band for the past 8 years has helped and blogging for the past year or so has also built my confidence. What I do love is styling the looks, shooting the photos and then editing. Actually editing photos is probably my favorite part (usually it’s people’s lease favorite part!). I studied Fine Art so it’s definitely a creative outlet for me.
5) What is a quick fashion tip or advice for men?
I’d say invest in some classic pieces once in a while. Don’t only buy the prescribed ‘outfit of the season’ that the major retailers are pushing. Buy from smaller labels and find unique pieces that will make you stand out.
6) Do you have any favorite stores or brands?
I recently discovered a brand called Stampd (from LA) – they make beautiful ‘avantstreet’ menswear. I also love Tiger Of Sweden – their clothes are beautifully made, classic, and fit me so well! For sneakers I’d definitely say Adidas Originals.
