Hotel Review: Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa

Fairmont Sonoma Bedroom

If you are looking for a relaxing, cozy, yet luxurious getaway, the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa should be a must in your travel bucket list. Earlier this month, I finally made it up north to wine country — Sonoma! It was an amazing experience overall, and the highlight of it all was staying at the Fairmont.

MY EXPERIENCE

We arrived early that evening, and as we pulled up, the bellhops were already at your service (which I loved). You can have them valet your car for a hefty price per night, but if you don’t mind walking a short distance, self-parking is free. Though we didn’t do valet, they helped us anyway with our bags and brought them to our room.

This hotel is absolutely stunning — just from the entrance, you can already tell this hotel is everything you’d hope for. I remember walking in and thinking WOW — we went before Christmas, so the hotel was decked out in beautiful holiday decor, which gave it a very homey feeling. Check-in was super easy; the front desk girl was very friendly. The hotel offers arriving guests with a glass of champagne, which I thought was a nice welcoming gesture.

Room:

Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa is a fairly large hotel! Like at the Grand Hyatt Kauai, we were easily lost the first time finding our room. Haha. But when we made it, we were very pleased! The hotel was kind enough to upgrade our room and we stayed in their Signature One Bedroom Suite — which featured a separate bedroom, large living room with a fireplace, large dining table, refrigerator, and full-size bathroom. Instantly we felt like home!

They left us a nice bottle of red wine and later came with a bottle of champagne as well. We were definitely spoiled! 🙂

Hotel Dining and Cocktails:

At Fairmont Sonoma, you have a few restaurant options including in-room dining.

Sante Restaurant

This is their main dining restaurant located in the hotel lobby. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We came here for both breakfast and dinner and really enjoyed eating here.

For dinner, I highly recommend their Alaskan Cod and for breakfast, definitely order their Lemon Cottage Cheese Pancakes and Banana Bread!

Located right next door to the Sante Restaurant is this cute little wine bar. This place is the perfect spot to grab a small bite to eat while enjoying a nice glass of wine.

You can wine and dine poolside at this seasonal outdoor cafe. Unfortunately, we went in the wintertime, so it was not available.

Hotel Amenities:

Fitness Center

All guests have access to Fairmont Sonoma’s fitness center – which can be found inside the Willow Stream Spa. I didn’t get a chance to check it out but it looked nice. The gym is equipped with all the main gym essentials such as treadmills, elliptical, bikes, rowers, and weights.

Hours
24-hour access for guests of the resort.

Also, Fairmont offers a “Fairmont Fit Program”; where they provide guests with fitness gear prior to arrival. It’s a really cool concept! Especially if you left your fitness gear at home and/or if you have no room in your luggage.

Willow Stream Spa

Willow Stream Spa at Fairmont Sonoma is like heaven on earth!! They offer guests a wide array of wonderful treatments as well as a bathhouse with thermal mineral pools, jacuzzi, steam room, and sauna — it’s absolutely a MUST when visiting Sonoma.
