Getting Your Protein ON
Reaching your daily protein intake a day can be challenging at times. I mean, they say you’re supposed to consume 1-1.5 grams of protein per pound of body weight a day, in order to reach your goals (lose fat, build muscle or overall improve the way you look/perform). As we all know, summer is quickly approaching and like many people, (me, myself and I) are always thinking of ways to reach our summer body goals – FAST.
On a weekly basis, I typically try to drink at least 1-2 protein shakes a day, which is a great way to easily increase your daily protein intakes. Though, it may seem quite a hassle to make one every day, just recently I was presented a new product to try from Optimum Nutrition, a leading sports nutrition brand. Optimum Nutrition (ON) Protein Water that delivers 20 grams of protein in every 16 Fl. Oz. serving. So basically it’s an already made drink for you to take on the go. ON Protein Water isn’t your typical protein shake, it’s more like a fruit-flavored type of water. This product comes in three different flavors – Icy Blue Raspberry, Orange Freeze and Tropical Fruit Punch.
I had a chance to try these drinks, and I must say I was happy to find something easy to take on the go and already pre-made and all.. Not to mention, I do love fruity sweet drinks, PLUS knowing that it has less than 100 calories is awesome! However I was a bit disappointed with some of the flavors. I expected it to maybe taste like a Gatorade drink or something more lightly like it proposed on its label, but the two flavors Blue Raspberry and Orange Freeze are way too sugary and sweet for my palette. However, the Tropical Fruit Punch takes the cake and was the least sweet and actually was refreshing!
Overall I like the idea that it delivers 20 grams of protein in one single bottle! It’s a great drink to have when you’re on the go and don’t have any time to put together a protein shake.
What kinds of shakes or food do you consume to reach your protein goals? Comment below, I am always looking for new ways!
