If you love the idea of having a monochrome outfit, but you have no idea how to go about creating it, or if you feel as though everything you have tried in the past just hasn’t worked out quite like you wanted it to, then you need to make some changes.
Focus on Colour
Even though you may be creating a monochrome outfit, you do need to make sure that you are considering your skin tone and how it is going to look. You also need to make sure that you opt for neutral colours, like black, white, and even off-white. If you can do this, then you will find that these work well with all skin tones and every occasion. You can also try and experiment a little but by opting for red or even blue and green to try and draw a bit of attention. If you can do this, then you will soon find that things work out even more for you.
Mix Textures
Mixing textures is one of the best things you can do. One of the key things to remember about monochromatic outfits is that you need to add texture as this helps to add more depth of interest. You may also find that this breaks up the general monotony of wearing a single colour. You can also pair this with a silk skirt or a silk blouse if you want, which is again a very good thing to do.
Add some Pattern
Even though you are sticking with a single color palette, you do need to make sure that you add some patterns if you can. Stick with a subtle pattern, whether it is a small accessory like a knitted scarf, or a larger piece like a jacket. If you want to add even more interest to your outfit, one thing you can do is try to focus on adding some grey contact lenses. These are very good for adding interest to your outfit, and you would be surprised at how much they could benefit you overall.
Proportions
If you haven’t given this any thought yet, now is the time to start. If you can play around with some proportions, then this will add a lot of visual interest, and it will also allow you to mix different lengths and silhouettes. By doing this, you may find that you can get a great result, and you may even find that you’re able to feel much more confident overall. Mixing and matching pieces will also help you to get the shape you’re going for, while adding visual interest to the outfit you have. When adding accessories, try to make sure that you consider the colour and that you add pieces that actually complement your outfit. Having some statement pieces, like a pair of metallic earrings or even a jewel necklace, can help you a lot here, as it adds interest without overwhelming your outfit. If you can keep this in consideration, it will help a lot.
