My CoolSculpting Review

Are you unhappy with your body? Do you have unwanted fat? Are you ever frustrated because as much as you exercise and eat healthy, you can't seem to lose weight in a particular area of your body? All my life, I found it to be impossible to lose my lower belly fat. {But let’s be real; that area is probably the most difficult area to get rid of, am I right?}

I have always joked about getting liposuction – and I know you’re thinking, why, though? I know I am not that big but personally I always hated wearing anything skintight or bandage material because in my eyes my belly area would just stick out – and it didn’t make me feel comfortable.

Honestly, I do try my best to live a healthy lifestyle; I work out at least 4-5 times a week and try my best to eat fairly clean, but no matter what I do, my belly just won't budge.

Last fall I attended a grand opening at this luxury med spa – at the event they gave us a tour of the variety of medical and wellness services they offered. One of the services they offered was CoolSculpting; and believe it or not, I have never really heard about it before and was hooked.

If you are following me on Instagram and are one of my avid Instagram Stories watchers then you might have watched my CoolSculpting journey over the last several months. And if you haven’t; no worries, you still can! Watch it on my highlights under “Cool Sculpting.”

And if you are wondering if it worked; the answer is absolutely! I seriously want to just get it all over my body {no joke}. The best part is, it didn’t hurt one bit AND it was super quick and easy.

I had done a lot of research before making my decision on this procedure. I went to Dr. Sheila Nazarian; located in Beverly Hills – her office has a 5-star review rating on Yelp, so I was comfortable with my decision. Alexa, their Aesthetician and Med Spa Specialist was the one who performed the CoolSculpting procedure on me and she was great! She was so amazing at breaking it down for me and making me feel very comfortable.

This picture was taken after the second session.

So what is CoolSculpting you ask? Well today in this article, I’ll be sharing you my experience and everything you need to know before making this big decision. So first things first…

Define CoolSculpting.
CoolSculpting is a FDA approved non-invasive procedure that freezes fat. With the use of a cooling treatment it eliminates stubborn fat that resists all efforts through diet and exercise.

Who is a considered a good candidate for CoolSculpting?
Unfortunately, before you decide you want to do this procedure, it’s not for everyone. The CoolSculpting procedure is specially designed for those who have unwanted fat in targeted areas. So eligible candidates are people who are about 10-15 pounds from their goal weight within their stubborn fat area. Which brings us to our next question…

Does CoolSculpting help you lose weight?
Unlike weight-loss surgery, this procedure is not a weight-loss solution for people who are obese. Patients who typically perform this procedure are more motivated to keep up their regular diet and exercise.

How many sessions do you need for each area?
It all depends on the person – during my consultation with Alexa; we discussed my goals and looked at the area of concern. From there, we created a plan that tailored to my specific goals. For me, I did two sessions on my lower abdominal area, on each side (left and right). I personally felt and saw a difference even after the first session.

How long does each treatment take?
With the latest technology of CoolSculpting, it takes 35-60 minutes to treat a patient. For my specific area, it only took about 35 minutes on each side (left and right). It was honestly a quick and easy procedure.

Did it hurt?
Not at all. While the applicator is on you, you are able to do other things like watch TV or play with your phone. I will say though, once the applicator is on you, you feel this tingly/burning sensation for about 3-5 minutes in the beginning, but that’s it! If you can handle that, you are golden.

What does it feel like?
Before the applicator is placed on you, it’s cold, obviously lol. Then once the applicator is on, it feels like a vacuum sucking onto your fat. Like mentioned, you feel kind of uncomfortable the first few minutes, but after that, it’s a breeze!

What areas of the body can you do CoolSculpting on?
Chin, arms, waist, hips, love handles, abdomen, inner and outer thighs, knees, underneath the buttocks (also known as banana roll), bra fat and back fat.

Is there a recovery time after the procedure?
This is the best part! Since CoolSculpting is non-surgical, patients can return to normal activities immediately. This is definitely one of the reasons that attracted me to this procedure. With my busy life and all, ain’t nobody got time for recovery time. Lol.

When do you see results?
So it is not recommended to do CoolSculpting if you are about to head on a vacation or have a upcoming big event. And I say this because you will feel bloated for about 2-4 weeks after the procedure. But the good news is you may start seeing changes as quickly as 3 weeks after your treatment and will experience the most dramatic results after 2 months. Your body continues to flush out fat cells for up to 4-6 months after treatment.

I believe I saw my results within 2-3 weeks after my treatment. I also happened to be doing this crazy fitness challenge at one of my gyms and since I was working out every day even twice a day, it totally expedited my results. :- )

So what is life after CoolSculpting? What should you expect to do now?
Some people think CoolSculpting will make their fat magically disappear – that’s not the case. You want to try to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Maintain a healthy diet and including exercise in your daily schedule is important!

How much does it cost?
It all varies on each individual – such as what areas you want to treat and how many times you decide to treat that area. Each doctor or medical facility has their specific price. Before you decide on the cheaper doctor; I honestly would recommend doing your research first and trust those who have done it for many years – I am so glad I found Dr. Nazarian’s office; their whole team is very professional and well-educated on this procedure. They also made me feel right at home and never once felt uncomfortable.

Would I do it again?
I get this all time – YES. I would. I definitely am considering doing it on my love handles, back and arms. I love my lower half of my body but my upper body is where I struggle the most.

Do you think it worked for you, honestly?
People always ask me this – because they are just super skeptical about the whole procedure and think it might be all in my head because I work out all the time and I GET IT. While I am happy with my results, I was even more shocked seeing the before and after pictures! You can totally tell the difference.

I personally think it worked for me. For instance, when I do tend to eat bad one day, I don’t feel or look as bloated in that area as I would before the procedure. I will say this though; I would not be against having another session done in that area, if not the whole stomach area. Any more extra sessions would definitely reduce the fat.

Overall –
My CoolSculpting experience was one of the highlights of my year. It was worth the investment.

If you are in the LA or OC area, I would DEFINITELY recommend making an appointment for a CoolSculpting consultation at Dr. Sheila Nazarian’s office in Beverly Hills. They have the cutest front area and their staff is absolutely amazing. They are very informative and will help you make a better decision on if this treatment is right for you.
