Meet Dj of Tailor Made Style

Happy Monday all! You know what day it is! It's Manly Mondays! Yes, it's been a while since I have featured a menswear blogger, and so sorry about that! Since the New Years, there will be a bit of changes this year on Fancy Nanc-ista! In addition to my regular fashion posts, menswear series, food reviews, I will be concentrating a bit more on the fitness side too! Every other Monday will be "Motivational Mondays," where I will be sharing with you some fitness tips, hot fitness spots, and more! In the meantime... I want to introduce you to, Dj Hargrave of Tailor Made Style.

1) What made you want to start your blog and how would you describe your style in 3 words?
I started blogging because I wanted an outlet to inspire people on a daily basis. Through my blog I share my two biggest passions - style and personal development. I also spread my message through other outlets such as speaking, writing and consulting to inspire others to improve themselves while improving their wardrobes.

My style is spontaneous, evolving and simple.

2) Who is your fashion inspiration?
If I had to choose one person it'd be Justin Livingston from Scout Sixteen. His style is effortless and he never looks too "put-together". He also knows how to dress up/down anything like no other blogger can.

3) What's one wardrobe essential you can't live without?
My black leather jacket for sure. Its one of those pieces that you can dress down on a lazy Sunday with joggers and sneakers, or dress it up with a shirt or tie for dinner.

4) What is your most favorite thing about blogging?
The feedback (positive and negative). The best part of blogging is when that one email comes around every few weeks/months from someone who says they're inspired by my blog. That usually gives me enough fuel in the tank to keep me motivated for a long time after reading a letter from a reader.

On the other hand, it's rare to have an internet presence without negative criticism from strangers. Most people would take it to heart and get discouraged, but I use it as motivation or completely ignore it- it let's me know I'm doing something right.

5) What is a quick fashion tip or advice for men?
Don't take an outfit that you saw on Instagram and try to copy it. That not only goes for the outfits you see on Instagram, but trying to copy-cat any outfit you see someone on the street wearing. That's almost like trying to steal someone else's writing voice/style. There's nothing wrong with being inspired, but also take into consideration what makes your style unique and try to intertwine it with something that inspired you.

Also, invest in staples in neutral colors (khaki, white, olive and black trousers, joggers and jackets), then build the rest of your wardrobe from there. It'll save you a lot of headaches, money and time.

6) Do you have any favorite stores or brands?
As far as a store that I wouldn't mind building my whole wardrobe from - it would be Zara. They have all the staples a man needs from bombers to joggers at an affordable price. I'm also a huge fan of Engineered Garments. Then Browne and A.P.C.

7) What would you say is your favorite spring trend this year?
Definitely safari-inspired menswear, I can see a lot of men wearing a field jacket, neutral chinos and desert boots on the perfect spring day. You stand out from everyone around you with your aesthetic but in a subtle way. A lot of the utility/safari inspired pieces come in colors such as shades of khaki and olive that look great on any skin tone.

Dj has a very straightforward and effortless look, that is easily relatable to many men. What do you guys think? If you want more of Dj's style, you can find him on Instagram or by visiting his blog.
