Motivational Mondays with the Training Mate

"Be Stronger Than Your Excuses."

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to check out this high intensity interval training class in West Hollywood called Training Mate. Luke Milton, a former captain of the Australian rugby team moved to Los Angeles to open up this studio, which promotes a team mentality and teaches it's students how to train like an athlete from an athlete.

If you've followed me in the past, you should already know I love trying new studios and classes. From barre to cycle to sproing to bootcamp; I have tried it all. One particular class I love to do and do often are HIIT classes, and when I heard about this class, I just had to try it!

How does this class work? Each class is 45 minutes. During the 45 minutes, there are 3 stations with 3 exercises. Each exercise you do for 45 seconds. The classes here are always different. The workouts range from ropes, to weights, spin bikes to rowing machines.

Would you recommend it? Yes!! I believe HIIT is a great way to break a sweat and burn more fat in a short period of time. I would say though, what made this class stick out the most is that the trainers and staff are both welcoming and hilarious! They make this hard, intense class more fun and entertaining, which will keep you smiling all class long! Who wouldn't want that?

Where is this located? Training Mate is located on 7825 Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA 90046.

Overall, this class and my experience was awesome! I would definitely check it out if you live in the LA area or even if you're visiting. Follow me on Snapchat for behind the scenes and more: nancysevilla.

Until next time... What should I try next? What is your favorite workout?

Meet Dj of Tailor Made Style

Happy Monday all! You know what day it is! It's Manly Mondays! Yes, it's been a while since I have featured a menswear blogger, and so sorry about that! Since the New Years, there will be a bit of changes this year on Fancy Nanc-ista! In addition to my regular fashion posts, menswear series, food reviews, I will be concentrating a bit more on the fitness side too! Every other Monday will be "Motivational Mondays," where I will be sharing with you some fitness tips, hot fitness spots, and more! In the meantime... I want to introduce you to, Dj Hargrave of Tailor Made Style.

1) What made you want to start your blog and how would you describe your style in 3 words?
I started blogging because I wanted an outlet to inspire people on a daily basis. Through my blog I share my two biggest passions - style and personal development. I also spread my message through other outlets such as speaking, writing and consulting to inspire others to improve themselves while improving their wardrobes.

My style is spontaneous, evolving and simple.

2) Who is your fashion inspiration?
If I had to choose one person it'd be Justin Livingston from Scout Sixteen. His style is effortless and he never looks too "put-together". He also knows how to dress up/down anything like no other blogger can.

3) What's one wardrobe essential you can't live without?
My black leather jacket for sure. Its one of those pieces that you can dress down on a lazy Sunday with joggers and sneakers, or dress it up with a shirt or tie for dinner.

4) What is your most favorite thing about blogging?
The feedback (positive and negative). The best part of blogging is when that one email comes around every few weeks/months from someone who says they're inspired by my blog. That usually gives me enough fuel in the tank to keep me motivated for a long time after reading a letter from a reader.

On the other hand, it's rare to have an internet presence without negative criticism from strangers. Most people would take it to heart and get discouraged, but I use it as motivation or completely ignore it- it let's me know I'm doing something right.

5) What is a quick fashion tip or advice for men?
Don't take an outfit that you saw on Instagram and try to copy it. That not only goes for the outfits you see on Instagram, but trying to copy-cat any outfit you see someone on the street wearing. That's almost like trying to steal someone else's writing voice/style. There's nothing wrong with being inspired, but also take into consideration what makes your style unique and try to intertwine it with something that inspired you.

Also, invest in staples in neutral colors (khaki, white, olive and black trousers, joggers and jackets), then build the rest of your wardrobe from there. It'll save you a lot of headaches, money and time.

6) Do you have any favorite stores or brands?
As far as a store that I wouldn't mind building my whole wardrobe from - it would be Zara. They have all the staples a man needs from bombers to joggers at an affordable price. I'm also a huge fan of Engineered Garments. Then Browne and A.P.C.

7) What would you say is your favorite spring trend this year?
Definitely safari-inspired menswear, I can see a lot of men wearing a field jacket, neutral chinos and desert boots on the perfect spring day. You stand out from everyone around you with your aesthetic but in a subtle way. A lot of the utility/safari inspired pieces come in colors such as shades of khaki and olive that look great on any skin tone.

Dj has a very straightforward and effortless look, that is easily relatable to many men. What do you guys think? If you want more of Dj's style, you can find him on Instagram or by visiting his blog.

Thanks for participating Dj!

Summer in February

I can't believe it's almost been a full year since I made my official move to my dream city, Los Angeles. Despite the time it takes to get somewhere and the traffic, I am loving this always sunny, and already 90 degrees kind of weather in mid winter??? I mean, who really can complain about that? :-)

One of the many things I love about L.A. is each city has something new to offer, you can drive 30 minutes north and be in the mountains, or 30 minutes south and reach the beach, etc. There is always somewhere to go or something to do, endless opportunities. Ever since I have moved, people always ask me for recommendations to do out here, so today I am sharing with you one of my favorite locations located in DTLA, the Walt Disney Concert Hall. I have shot here previously, and just can't get enough of it. The location is a beauty, and definitely worth checking out when you visit.
