Transitioning into Fall in LA

Oh Los Angeles... Though I am clearly not "made in LA," there are a lot of different cool artwork around Los Angeles! Chicago will always be my home, and though I do miss my friends and family, I really do enjoy living out here! And it is starting to feel like home now. :-)

It's finally starting to feel like fall here now.. you know, like it's finally going down to 70 degrees weather!  {ha ha} It's seriously a lot "colder" than it was a few weeks ago, and sadly but surely, I am becoming one of "them," who thinks it's cold now.

Slowly and sadly saying good-bye to all the strapless dresses, short skirts and shorts, I've been wearing lately...which brings me to today's look, me slowly transitioning into fall!

Smile Brilliant Review

I am not much of a coffee drinker and I don't smoke cigarettes, but do love my wine and drink it often. Studies show that wine is one of the many factors to staining your teeth. One of the things I have been dying to get done on my list is to get my teeth whitened professionally. I have tried generic teeth whitening kits and home remedies in the past but have not successfully got results that I wanted.

Until recently I was contacted by a brand called Smile Brilliant, they asked me to review their whitening kit, and I gladly accepted. Today I am sharing with you my experience with this amazing kit, and how it helped me to get one step closer to getting that perfect white smile.

Smile Brilliant is not like any other teeth whitening product out there, I say this because it's very similar to getting your teeth whitened professionally at the dentist BUT without having to break your bank! The Smile Brilliant kit comes with 3 sets of impression material (catalyst paste and base paste), impression trays, whitening gel and desensitizing gel, all for a reasonable price, $119.95 (original $179.95).

How does this work? Well it's simple, this kit comes with simple instructions for you to follow! If you've ever been to the dentist (which I'm sure you all have), you'll definitely see very familiar items inside your creation kit.

A few tips to remember:

1) When mixing the catalyst and base paste together, make sure to do this part fast because the putty can get hardened quickly.

2) Make sure you evenly spread the putty in the tray (it's okay if it spills over) so that you can get all of your teeth from front to back.

3) Let your impressions sit for 30 minutes before rinsing them off under cool water. And wait until they are fully hardened to place them in your shipping envelope.

4) There's multiple pastes in there for a reason! If you mess up, no worries, you can always try it again! :-)

Once you are done and your impressions are hardened, you can ship them off to the lab! Make sure your impression card is also placed inside with your trays, failure to receive it will delay your shipment (don't want that happening!). This process takes about 2 weeks for them to receive it and send you your personalized trays!

So once you've got your trays (picture on the left), you are on your way to getting whiter teeth!

What are the steps to using these trays? Well, good question, when I received mine I was a bit confused too, I mean I wasn't sure which syringe I was suppose to be using first in process? In your kit it comes with two different syringes, sensitizing gel (green) and desensitizing gel (purple).

Before starting, make sure your trays are dry, any moisture will reduce the efficacy of the gel.

Use a pair of scissors to snip off the tip of the syringe, and only use a thin layer of gel to your trays. Anything more than, will cause irritation to your gums (which was a mistake I did  and I have sensitive gums) and could also cause tooth sensitivity.

Like all teeth whitening products you have to be consistent using it and the longer you have it on, the better results you will receive. Truthfully, one of the struggles I encountered was being consistent with the usage of the gels, and I was very inconsistent, so I felt like my results weren't as great as it should have been! You can keep them on for 15 minutes or a max of 3 hours, it all depends on how fast you want to see results!

After your done using the sensitizing gel, clean out your trays again (making sure everything is cleaned and dried out), you then place a thin layer of the desensitizing gel to your trays and leave them on for about 5-15 minutes. Afterwards, spit the remaining gel out without rinsing, and do not eat or drink for about 30 minutes. And you're done!

Here is what my teeth looked before:

And here is what it looked after:

I loved using this kit, and out of all my experiences this the most effective brand! If you are like me, and don't want to spend a fortune on getting your teeth whitened and want something you can do in the comfort of your own home, then Smile Brilliant is for you! Tooth Discoloration

White Textures

Who says you can't wear white after Labor Day? White is a great color to wear no matter what time it is! For today's look, I am mixing two fun white textured pieces together. I love how unique each piece is, especially this front split top. The detailing of the geometric cut out creates a bit of a bohemian feel, but pairing it with a floral and lacy skirt, keeps the look more modern and classy.

Lastly, I simply paired this look with red lace ups and a red lip.

What do you guys think?

Asymmetrical Halter Dress

Asymmetrical styles continue to be trendy this season. They help to create a more edgier and arty vibe to your outfit. Sometimes I just want to wear something funky/arty, and an asymmetrical piece does the trick!

For today's look, I am wearing an asymmetrical halter dress from three floor. What makes this dress so interesting and unique is the various blue metallic shades, with a fish scale-like print, and a use of elastic and nylon lining. This dress is an art piece itself, and I love it! What do you guys think?

Since the dress is the highlight of my look, I paired it with simple accessories such as a black clutch, pearl earrings and silver pointy heels.

Meet Tri of Tri Edition

Tri, based in Melbourne, Australia, and currently studying law at Victoria University. I absolutely love my coffee, so you can always find me at a cafe. Through my Instagram and blog, I hope to inspire one person out there to find their individuality; in style and character.

1) What made you want to start your blog and how would you describe your style in 3 words?
It took me a lot of courage to start a blog and my Instagram. But what drove me to start was that urge to share my individuality in personal styling and creativity.

My style is all about being 'you'. If I was to describe it in 3 words, it would be: exclusive, distinct, and unique.

2) Who is your fashion inspiration?
I get inspired on a daily basis by influencers on Instagram. I love how everyone have their distinctive style - not just their fashion but also their photography.

3) What's the one wardrobe essential you can't live without?
Can I say two? I cannot live without a tailored blazer and a pocket square.

4) What is your most favorite thing about blogging?
It's the networking! Just being able to connect and meet so many other bloggers and Instagram'ers really helps you open new doors of opportunity into an industry or a community that you wish to be a part of.

5) What is a quick fashion tip or advice for men?
Be exclusive, and be you! It's not just what you wear - it's how you wear it.

6) Do you have any favorite stores or brands?
My favorites are: Melbourne Dapper, Bossini Menswear, M.J. Bale, Edward Kwan and Dappertude.
7) And last but not least.. What are some of the hottest fall trends this season?
This particular trend have already started in the pre-fall, but you'll definitely be seeing a lot more of the check patterned double-breasted suit jackets, and double monk strap shoes.

Tri's style is very dapper! Check him out on Instagram and more on his blog here!

Thank you for participating Tri! Keep up the great style :)

Until next time...

Birthday Post

"Let us never know what old age is. Let us know the happiness time brings, not count the years." ~Ausonius

After the age of 23, I stopped getting excited for the next birthday, and so on, and now that I am heading towards my upper 20's, I am getting less and less excited. Though as the years go by, I am learning to accept that age is just a number, and each year is just another year of growth and wisdom. A year where you learn more about you, and what really makes you happy.

Looking back at this age of 25, it definitely had it's ups and downs, loss of friendships but the highlight of it all was meeting and surrounding myself with some of the most amazing people throughout this journey. This journey where you guys let me be me, and I am so thankful for everyone that has been apart of it, as it continues...

Though I may not be getting younger, I am learning to just embrace my age and cherish all the happy moments each year brings! Despite the mishaps, I am so blessed to surround myself with truly inspiring and beautiful people, and I look forward to all the possibilities and opportunities that this year may bring!

Cheers to 26!
