ShopAtHome.com 101

The holidays are just around the corner and shopping for gifts are just one more thing you need to worry about. I am usually a busy person and can never find enough time to shop in store. Though I would much rather prefer shopping via internet, I usually can find a wider variety online anyways. The best part of online shopping is there are many websites that provide virtual coupons that can be used for any store you shop at. One particular site that I like to use and has 100,000 coupon codes and exclusive cash back deals is a site called ShopAtHome. ShopAtHome is an online coupon site where it includes top brand name coupons for groceries, dining, apparel and more. So it's not just for apparel but for everyday things as well! Who wouldn't want to save a little cash? This makes online shopping a whole lot better!

Some of my favorite shops I save big on are, ASOS, Target, Bauble Bar, and Nordstrom. Those are just a few out the thousands of coupons they have! When using ShopAtHome, it takes a few easy steps: type in the search bar the store you'd like to see coupons for, browse through all the coupons, pick the one you would like and click 'visit site with rewards', lastly use the code (if there is one) at checkout before purchasing, and that's it! How easy is that? ShopAtHome is easy, fun, and definitely worth using! Get started today and save big!!

Mixing Prints

Photography by Marc Anderson

One of my most favorite things I love about having the freedom to wear what I want everyday is the chance to experiment mixing prints and colors together. Just the other day I was trying to figure out what I wanted to wear with these pants, and I randomly decided to try my leopard print wedges with this graphic tee, and I loved it. These wedges are super comfortable and very easy to walk in too, which is always a big plus when wanting to stay comfortable while also looking chic out and about!

Faux Fur Vest and Silver Bracelet

A few weeks ago I was contacted by a company called eShakti and was asked if I would be interested in reviewing a product and my experience from their site. I have never heard of this site before, but when I did a bit of research and found that they were a custom clothing shop that’s what attracted me the most. I had the opportunity to choose any garment available on their site, and once I picked that item, I would customize the garment according to fit and style.

I’ll be honest; it took me a good while to actually find something that I really liked. For me, there was not a lot of options to choose from, which is crazy because eShakti has a wide variety of selections. I guess I was also trying to pick something more practical, something I can see myself wearing more than once. After going through the site a few times, I came down to my top three, the faux fur vest, the houndstooth skirt, and a pleated skirt. Out of the three, I chose the faux fur vest, but it was super close with the houndstooth skirt.

As for my experience with their customization, it was fairly simple. Since I chose the vest, the custom styling was either same length as it’s shown in the picture or at a low hip length; I chose the same length option. Above that, they simply just ask you what is your size for bust, waist, hip and your height, very explanatory. Although I was looking at the custom options for the skirt, and there were more options for the length of the skirt, so I am curious to know how that would have played out.

When I finished ordering, I received a confirmation email from eShakti stating that my order has been received and that it would typically be processed and shipped in about 7-9 working days. I feel like it took them a bit longer for the product to ship, but when it did, it was delivered within 1-2 days. The company uses DHL shipping, instead of the usual Fedex and UPS. I have read really bad reviews on them and anticipated that something would go wrong. But prior to delivery, I received a text from DHL confirming their arrival and to make sure I will be home at that time. Luckily, since I was home, the shipping process went smoothly.

When I received the product, I was actually impressed with the quality. Since its fake fur, it’s quite a risk to purchase especially via internet. The vest was at perfect length; the only thing I would have liked to customize was the option of having the belt removable. It would have been nice if the belt was not sewed into the vest, and had the option to take it on and off. I believe that with that option, the vest would be more versatile. Oh well....

Since the vest has a black and white detailed pattern, I decided to wear my plain black knee length dress underneath, and to add a bit of a 'pop' I wore my blue pointed heel, which helped to finish off my classy look.

During the same week, I was contacted by Megan from Megan’s Beaded Designs; she is a jewelry and hair accessories designer. Megan had also sent me a product from her site. I really find it fascinating when people can design their own products, especially jewelry. I was happy to partner up with her and review her product.

From her wide selection of jewelry and accessories, I ended up choosing the Beaded Silver Bracelet.

Overall, I was really happy with the vest and the bracelet. I really liked the peplum part of the vest, and despite the belt not removable, the combination of the two is very girly and lady-like, which fits my style perfectly. As for the bracelet, it was delivered to me exactly how it looked in the picture. This bracelet can be worn with casual outfits as well. As for size, it fits fine, but it seems to flip downwards often, which might be because my wrist is a bit smaller than others.

This look is perfect for a day out to lunch or out on a lovely dinner date. I also wore red lipstick and a simple black clutch. Remember the vest and heels are already popping out, so you don't want to overdo it.

Adamus Fall Dinner

Adamus is a new lounge that just opened in The Silversmith Hotel located in the Loop area in Chicago. Just last Tuesday they welcomed the Windy City Bloggers to have an inside taste of their seasonal fall menu. I am quite a foodie, and was surprised when I had not heard of this place before. I did not know what to expect, or how to dress, but upon arrival, the place had an elegant and modern feel, which made me excited for what's to come.

I wanted to wear something that fit the theme of the night (fall), I thought a scarf paired with darker colors would be a bit fall-ish, don't you think?

As dinner began, the Chef briefly came to explain each dish thoroughly. First dish we had was Beef Empanadas. The empanadas were served with a roasted piquillo pepper remoulade and horseradish creme. This was very tasty and was a great appetizer to start off with.

Next came the pairing of the fresh pear and goat cheese salad, along with a side of white asparagus bisque with jumbo lump crab, moral mushrooms, and fresh chevril. This particular plate was very "fall-ish". The soup was very creamy but paired well with the rich texture of the salad, I actually did not know there was crab in it until after I finished, it tasted so good that I ate it way too fast and did not get a grasp of all the flavors.

There were two flatbreads brought out, there was the artichoke hearts and goat cheese flatbread and the other was foraged mushroom flatbread. I was sitting on one end of the table so I tried the artichoke flatbread, which I do not regret. I have to admit I have tried my fair share of pizza/flatbread places in Chicago, but this flatbread won over my heart. Ha, I mean I would probably go back just for this flatbread. The crust was nicely done, with a good amount of a garlic and butter taste. Overall it had a great mixture of flavors that melt in your mouth. I was in heaven by then.

After eating probably more than I should, I was pretty full by then and might have ruined my appetite for the next dish. There were two entrees, the first was the bronzed walleye pike and then juniper pork tenderloin. Thankfully these dishes were served family style, where they served one big plate in the middle for everyone to have a taste. I personally was not much of a fan for the pork tenderloin, it had a weird taste to it, as for the fish, it was at least less filling and light enough for me to eat.

Lastly (and thankfully) we had sampled two delicious desserts brought out to us at the end. As full as I might have been, I always can make room for dessert! The first was a chocolate smore creme brulee, which looked appetizing but I thought it was a bit too soupy for my likings. The next was a pumpkin cheesecake which was phenomenal. It wasn't too sweet but it had a nice light and creamy texture to it. Another plate that I would definitely order again. It hit the spot and ended with a good note.

That being said, Adamus is a place I would recommend to you. They are located between Wabash and Madison (10 S Wabash). Adamus is a great place for a date night, or just to have drinks with some friends. I had an overall fun time seeing and mingling with the other bloggers as well. Thank you Adamus and Windy City Bloggers for a fabulous night out.

VFX by Day, Blogger by Night

Very excited to announce the release of Maek Music's Pandamonium Visual Album! This is the first visual album in independent music history. Those of you who are unaware what a visual album is; it's basically where a label creates a music video for all of their songs in the album. I wanted to share with you what I have been working on for the last month or so, non-fashion related, but is what I graduated in school and is my other passion in life. So check it out here.... and let me know what you think!

I created the music video called Mi Badi (21:00), with the help of Napoleon Griffin, which he did an amazing job with 'Bring Me to Life' video (the video before mine). Though the long, hard work, it was a fun experience and reminded me of how much I LOVE doing what I do.

You could download the whole Visual Album here! Share the love by sharing this link and posting on your wall or liking the page =).

Wednesday Wishlist

I can't believe how fast October is already going by, as the fall leaves start changing, and the weather is soon to stay cold, I start to realize how much I need to update my fall/winter closet! If anyone were to look into my closet, they would think I live in a warmer climate because I own way too many skirts, shorts, dresses, you name it, but barely any fall/winter wear! I hate to admit it, but when it's cold I don't really care so much about what I look like, it's more about staying warm at all times.

Lately, I have been looking through websites and finding cute fall/winter trends and it made me start thinking about what I should wear next. Yeah, it might be cold outside, but the cold should not get in my way this time! Here is my Wednesday Wishlist of [Fall Favorites]:

SHOP THIS POST //

ONE// It might be a little late to purchase a lighter jacket for the season, but they are always good to have. This green padded vest is super cute and appropriate for the season!

TWO// I have never been a fan of wearing jeans, I honestly only own a few pairs, but this year I definitely want to stock up! I really like this distressed skinny jean look.

THREE// It's going to be a cold winter I hear, so over the knee boots are a must!

FOUR// I really need a new black bag that goes with everything.

FIVE// Super stylish and trendy for the upcoming season!

The Big 2-5

I may look young, but I am actually 5 years away from being 30! Yesterday I celebrated my 25th birthday with good friends, and I still can't believe I am this old. I know some of you may not think that 25 is not old, but it's crazy how fast these years fly right by!

My 24 years had it's ups and downs but mostly ups. Like in my last post I mentioned many things changed for the better, which is true. I also made a list of things I wanted to accomplish in my New Year's Resolution post. It hasn't been a year yet but I would say I accomplished 9 out of the 10 resolutions already! Someone mentioned last night that I should do something "extravagant" or "really memorable" this year. 24 was great, but now onto 25 which will be filled with more epic memories!
